Duma Key

November 2023 – March 2025

We are pleased to announce the eigth and final book in this series of custom bound novels by Stephen King. For those unfamiliar with these books, we acquire 1st edition copies, and then work with bookbinders and other artisans to rebind the original book block. By incorporating elements of the story into the design of the binding we hope to create a unique experience. It is our way of honoring the work of Stephen King, and crafting a cover design that collectors and fans can cherish.

Full Leather

The Duma Key rebound is limited to 52 copies lettered A-Z and AA-ZZ, and 6 “Rebinder” copies designated “RC”. The binding is full goatskin from a design by artist Don Maitz using die-cut strips of leather in varying colors to depict an ocean scene with the ship foil blocked on the front cover.

Wooden Easel Enclosure

The book is housed in a modified wooden tabletop artist easel, and the book can be removed and placed on the easel. The easel is made from premium Beechwood and is sized at 16″ x 5″ x 12″. A laser engraved plaque featuring a quote from the novel is affixed to the front and the box includes a watercolor paint set with paint brush.

Bonus Giclée Art Print of 1st Edition Jacket Art by Mark Stutzman

All orders ship with a beautiful giclée print of the 1st trade edition jacket art created by Mark Stutzman who has signed the prints. The print is presented in the original orientation which was flipped on the published edition to accommodate the author’s name.

Also included is an original pencil drawing by Don Maitz who created the rebound cover design. The drawing is just under 6″ x 9″ and is included in an envelope. Below are two examples.

Eligibility for the Private Order

These editions are first offered to owners of the previous Lettered custom bound book (Christine). If a previous owner declines to purchase the new book, then any remaining copies will be sold through a lottery.

Because it has been over 3 years since Christine was announced and sold, we want to make absolutely certain that our records are still accurate. We know there have been some transfers since then, and we have captured these. But still, it has been a while. So let’s make sure we are all on the same page.
